OK, so I posted the basics, now let’s get a little more specific. Basically this is like a 300 day NaNoWriMo but less organized. Since 2,000 words a day is pretty hardcore we’ll be breaking it up into tiers and over the next month I’ll be putting together a page for tracking your word count and all that. Who knows how fancy I’ll get, it all depends on how much time I have.
The point of this is to build a writing habit. I used to set aside an hour of every day to write, then I stopped. If I can get back to writing an hour a day I can actually produce something. So I figure with a little competition and encouragement from other writers I can get back to that habit and actually finish some things.
Now even at only 500 words a day you can easily write more than one novel in 300 days. We’re not all Jeff and sitting on 7 novels. So I’m open to suggestions on how we count editing and revising once we get to that point. In the mean time, we’re quite a way from that so we don’t need to worry about it. The goal is to write everyday.
We’re starting with just doing the standard NaNoWriMo deal. That gives me time to figure out some guidelines and put together some tools for us to use to track everything. So, if you’re interested and not already registered for NaNoWriMo had on over to http://www.NaNoWriMo.org we’ll use their tools to track everyone for a month. Once you’re signed up email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your NaNo username and we’ll get buddied up.
That’s it in a nutshell. As we decide on the details of the tiers and how to handle editing once a first draft is done I’ll post those. Hoping to get a lot of emails on this. Come on and take the challenge.
